April 1863 List of Quartermaster Stores Transferred from 3rd Corps to 71st New York, Two Days Before Battle of Chancellorsville
Item No. 2066327
On this April 1863 list of quartermaster stores, Lieutenant Samuel A. Wood of the Army of the Potomac’s 3rd Corps transfers a number of tents and camp equipment to Lieutenant John E. Potter of the 71st New York Volunteers. While a number of the wall tents that were in “worn” condition were accepted, over three hundred shelter halves marked as “condemned” were stricken from the list. These items were received at the 71st’s camp near Falmouth, Virginia, on April 28—two days before the start of the Battle of Chancellorsville.
The document is briefly docketed on the reverse. It measures about 10 1/2” x 8” and is in very good condition. Lightly toned on reverse. Creased at the original folds.
