A really nice Goodyear patent rubber coat button. These are the buttons that were on the uniforms of the 1st and 2nd U.S. Sharpshooter Regiments, as opposed to the standard brass buttons worn by the infantry. There is a brass shank on the reverse. The back of the button reads “Goodyear N.R. Co. P=T. 1851.” Excellent condition. Really a nice example.
