A nice CDV view of General Winfield Scott. A veteran of the War of 1812 and the Mexican War, the aged Scott was in command of the small regular army at the beginning of the Civil War. On the reverse is the early backmark of E. Anthony of New York, with credit to Mathew Brady’s negative. The carte measures about 2 1/2” x 4” and is in very good condition.
