Signed CDV of Sergeant Mortimer Clark, 134th New York

This CDV image features the bust view of a Union soldier. He wears a uniform frock coat with a small cravat at the neck. There is no photographer’s imprint, but on the reverse the soldier is identified in period ink as Mortimer Clark of the 134th New York Volunteers. This unit served in the 11th and 20th Corps, fighting at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Resaca, and Kennesaw Mountain, among others. Records indicate Clark enlisted in August 1862 at Lockport as a private and was mustered out in June 1865 at Bladensburg, Maryland. He was promoted sergeant in April 1865. CDV measures about 2 1/2” x 4”.
